The incident took place near the intersection of southern 17th street and South College Road. The pedestrian was transported to the Regional Medical Center Novant Health New Hanover from emergency medical services.
A police station spokesman said that the victim of the accident remains in critical condition.
WPD calls anyone who has information about the incident to call them at 910-343-3609 or leave anonymous advice in the TIP 411 app.
According to the annual WPD Crime Statistics Report, there were 17 fatal accidents in 2024. Pedestrians represent six of these victims.
Two of the six pedestrian deaths have occurred to South College Road.
