Zach Ertz scored a touchdown to dominate the first half for the Commanders – Sports Illustrated

After filling in for injured rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels, veteran Washington Commanders quarterback Marcus Mariota has gotten off to a rough start, throwing five consecutive incompletions in the first quarter. However, he quickly found his rhythm, completing 5 of his next 6 passes for 75 yards on the Commanders’ final drive. That impressive performance led to a 92-yard march down the field before halftime, culminating in a 12-yard touchdown pass to tight end Zach Ertz.

Ertz’s score not only extended Washington’s lead, but also showed Mariota’s ability to bounce back from a shaky start. The Commanders displayed offensive talent throughout the game, outgaining the Carolina Panthers by a significant margin of 214 yards to 110. This offensive dominance has put them in a favorable position as they prepare for the second half.

With the momentum firmly in its favor and growing confidence in Mariota’s ability to lead the team, Washington is poised to continue its strong run. As the Chiefs prepare for the second-half kickoff, the focus will be on maintaining their offensive dominance and increasing their lead while hoping for a speedy recovery for Daniels.
