LAUDERDALE CO., Ala. (WAFF) – A Lauderdale County judge accused of misusing funds for personal use now has a hearing scheduled, according to court documents obtained by WAFF.
Presiding Judge Gilbert Self is scheduled for a status hearing Nov. 14, where a trial date could be set, court documents reveal.
Self was charged in January 16 counts of using office for personal gain or for the benefit of family members, one count of making a false representation to the Auditors of Public Accounts and one count of perjury.
The audit revealed that Self spent more than $146,000 of county money on unauthorized expenses, such as hiring his son.
