See how unemployed benefits dropped last week – Greater Baton Rouge Business Report



The number of Americans submitting unemployment benefits fell last week as the labor market remains strong.

Unemployed benefits have fallen by 16,000 to 207,000 for the week ending January 25, the Labor Division reported on Thursday. Analysts were expecting 225,000 new applications.

Weekly unemployment benefits are considered proxy for abbreviations.

The four -week average, which emits a portion of the weekly instability, tossed by 1000 to 212,500.

Although some signs of weakness in the labor market appeared in 2024, workplaces are still abundant and the abbreviations are historically low.

Earlier this month, the Ministry of Labor announced that the growth of jobs in December is increasing and unemployment has fallen. Employers added 256,000 jobs last month, and the unemployment rate reduced to 4.1%.

The final job report of 2024 emphasizes that the economy and hiring managed to grow at a solid rate, even with interest, much higher than before the pandemic.
