Boise, Idaho – Two State Police detectives in Idaho (ISP) were awarded the “Life Rescue Prize” after preventing a potentially fatal disaster involving an unconscious driver of Interstate 84.

On October 16, 2024, ISP detectives Chris Pohanka and Jamie Wood noticed a gray Toyota Camry, “Savor’s sails with unpredictable speeds” on the I-84 Boise. The driver was unconscious behind the wheel because he had emergency medical attention.

Detectives had banished Camry in an attempt to slow him down, but she accelerated and crashed into the detective patrol car, police said. Pohanka managed to slow down the vehicle and direct it safely to the average.

Wood strives for the driver while the paramedics arrived and took her to the St. Alfons Regional Medical Center.

Later, the driver is released.

“Very few people would be ready – or able – to do what these detectives did,” said Colonel at ISP Bill Guardier. “They were harmed, stepping between a life -threatening situation and innocent motorists who had no idea of ​​the danger of unfolding around them.”

Both detectives were praised by State Police in Idaho for their “unwavering public safety dedication.”
