Local fishermen travel to West Maryland to make ice fishing in some of the Western lakes such as Deep Creek and have some luck, grabbing yellow perch and other species of Panfi. The weather is unstable with high winds and temperatures that rise in the last week, making ice in the Central Maryland area dangerous for fish. Some open water rivers on the west side of the state were equipped with rainbow trout for the first wave of pre -season trout socks. For us in the bay, we finally get a break with heavy winds and cold temperatures, so in the next few days we have to get an idea of where these migrating striped bass has moved. Some fishermen are fishing for the CalverT Cliffs power plant with a slight success, grabbing one or two striped bass in the range of 30 to 45 inches.

Recreation fishermen and commercial voices make victims to help build the spawn size of the stocks, so this may be the beginning of payment.

The deep hole under the railway bridge is always a good place for experience. Gizzard Shad or Menhaden make good baits. Next month, the same area is one of the first places that can fish for yellow perch. Dip platforms with sufficient sinking to hold and lure with small minnines are a popular way to direct the yellow perch.
Lower bay
The Potomac and Nanticoke rivers will provide much of the focus on fishermen over the next few weeks if the ice withdraws and fishing can occur to a son catfish. Blue catfish will be found to hold in the deeper channels and often fish can be quite good. The deep channel over Fort Washington is known for holding some of the largest blue catfish and several Maryland state records are caught there. The areas of the channel near the mouth of the Marshyhope and Sharptown area are a good place for fishing for blue catfish if the conditions allow. Fresh Sinar or frozen fog makes good baits and swell with a prayer with a prayer full of ground Menhaden can help attract blue cats closer to your boat.
Sweet water
The icy conditions in most freshwater and tidal areas have made difficult fishing outdoors over the past month. The warmer weather is in the forecast, so we hope that the waters will start to open. The Triadelphia and Howard Duckett tanks are open to fishing when the ice withdraws; Ice fishing is prohibited in these places.
