New initial start pre -school for San Bernardino County – Redlands City News

The Preschool Services Department (PSD) has recently celebrated the solemn opening of the pre -school start of Whitney Young Head, located at 1755 W. Maple St. in San Bernardino.

Since 1965, Head Start has supported over 39 million children and their families across the country, preparing them for success at school and after. The main start program serves children aged 3 to 5 years and focuses on education, health, nutrition and family well -being at an early age, creating a positive change in communities across the country. The Whitney Young site also serves young children aged 24 to 36 months to the Early Start program, which emphasizes training opportunities throughout the day to prepare them for the main start program.

“This site embodies the goals we have ahead,” said PSD temporary director Arlin Molina. “While our children continue in kindergarten, they will feel confident and prepared.”

The Council of the Supervisory Authorities and Vice President of the Fifth County Joe Baka, Jr., assistant manager of the San Bernardino County Diana Alexander and the director of politics and public relations for the Housing Authority of San Bernardino County Nicole Baidler joined the bright future.

PSD offers comprehensive services to strengthen families, including healthcare, mental health maintenance, transportation and other resources, all provided by family maintenance workers comfortably located on the spot. “Families have identified the need to support the community and are able to set goals for stability and perhaps continued education,” Molina said.
