Nevada falls on Boise State – athletics in Nevada

Boyz, Idaho. – Nevada Wolk’s package struggles to find a sequence on the road, as they missed the Boise State solution on January 29, 2025 at Extramile Arena. The game was marked by offensive struggles in the first half, and despite the stronger efforts of the second half, Wolf Pack could not overcome Boise State’s efforts.

Nick Davidson Lead Nevada in 18 points with effective shooting by 6 for 10, including 3-from-4 of the three-point scope. He added four fights. Kobe Sanders followed by 9 points, passing 3-9 from the pitch. For Boise State, Javan Buchanan was the best goal scorer, finishing with 19 points and five rebounds, while Alvaro Cardenas chipped with 18 points and five assists to help seal the victory.

First half

Nevada struggles to go out of the first half, shooting only 25 percent (5 to 20) from the pitch. Wolf Pack was able to keep in the game thanks to the strong shooting with free throws, transforming attempts for 11 out of 13 (84.6 percent). Davidson was a bright place, marking 7 of its 18 points in the first half, including a key triphone shower that entered the early lead of Boise State.

In the meantime, Boise State has built its advantage by shooting 37.5 percent of the floor and knocked four triphoners. Broncos’ protective pressure forced Nevada to at 8 turnover in the first half, resulting in opportunities for transition. Despite its struggles, Wolf Pack maintained things competitive, heading for halftime, behind only 28-24.

Second half

Nevada showed an improvement offensive in the second half, shooting 54.5 percent of the pitch, but their return efforts were hindered by missed free throws (5-from-11). Davidson and Sanders found their rhythm, with Davidson adding 11 points to the second half, and Sanders contributed 7 of its 9 points after the break. However, Boise State responded with a constant rating from Buchanan and Cardenas, which combined for 18 points from the second half.

Boise State extends its lead to 16 points by just over six minutes to play, taking advantage of points from the second chance and key defense stops. Nevada slightly closed the gap in the last minutes, but never threatened to restore the lead. Broncos’ defense held strong, limiting the attempts of Wolf’s tricks again and forcing contested shots in the final possessions.

With the loss Nevada fell to 11-10 in general and 3-7 in Mountain West Play. Wolf Pack will look to bounce in their next match against UNLV on February 1st at the Lawlor events center.
