Virginia Beach, Washington (wavy) – on the hill near the Lake, where Juan Sebastian Mejia Asevedo lost his life, friends and strangers came to say goodbye.

It began on Monday night after the gloomy discovery, which left everyone broken.

Authorities still collect the details and facts about Juan’s disappearance and death, as the Virginia Beach community says they just want to support the family during this tragic time.

Police confirm the body found in the lake, missing 12-year-old vb

“We were heartbroken,” said Courtney Rivera, who organized the growing vigil. “No words. I was left silent. You are waiting for an update and finally you get it and it makes me cry. ”

Neighbors shake after the weekend of searching for the missing 12-year-old, who reached a sad end of a pond on Monday afternoon.

“It’s a terrible, terrible tragedy,” said Anna Moore’s resident nearby.

Asevedo’s body was restored from the pond of detention not far from his home. Virginia Police Police Police Paul Naidgate said Asevedo was likely to go through the ice.

“I grew up in a really cold area and just staying away from the ice,” Moore said.

Virginia Beach police said they were investigating the authenticity of the ransom request that led to the amber signal and the possible search for the lake.

Jennifer Campbell of Williambsburg said it is quite harsh. We are still processing it, but our hope is in Christ. ”

Other residents are deeply saddened – a man said the police knocked on his door for a better point of view of the lake.

Neudigate said the ice is about three inches thick, but again, the details of how Asevedo ended up in the water are unclear. Nearby neighbors Rivera and Jason Lopez said the camera on their door caught footage of Asevedo Friday, which was last seen. Since then, they have betrayed this to the police.

“He is just a kid who hangs with his friends playing out,” Rivera said. “Throwing snowballs, I just have fun and I am grateful that I even have those frames to share with my parents.”

“We just want to be here to devote this to his family to Juan and just give up our respect,” said Jason Lopez.

They hope that the memorial and comfort for the family continue to grow as this investigation continues.

“Either the family, or someone on behalf of the family, paid ($ 500) without additional communication,” Naudgita said. “We would be left not to continue to explore this until we understand otherwise.”

Shadia Harris, who lives near the lake and has a four -year -old, said she had accepted this as an opportunity to point to the dangers of water.

“During the snowy day, we were in this area and I kept him to his hood,” she said, “and we warned him to retire too far because he could slip into the water and we didn’t know how deep it was. ”

There was ice on the lake, but as you got out of the shore, it became smaller, then really thin.

On Monday, Alice Hendra of the peninsula was launching leaflets for Juan. She knows about the loss as her daughter was killed.

“Healing is a moment in a momentary process, Hendry said,” and never goes away. It just gets a little easier to take up every day and my heart really goes out to them.

Jair Alvarez was there on Tuesday with a teacher at LarkSpur High School Melissa Moore. Jairo wrote this about his friend, who is now published on the tree in vigil.

“I will always remember you as a good friend from school and forever the clerk of our school and play time together,” Jairo writes. “Rest in peace, dear friend.”

“He was such a good friend,” Jairo said. “Nice, kind and very playful.”
