Downloaded in 2018, but back to the table in 2025. A remedy for potentially increasing homes at affordable prices in Renault will again be a debate.
City employees have proposed an ordinance to allow controversial housing units or ADUS in most Renault areas.
“I think most people are excited to see them, I think (the city) wants to see some accessibility and opportunities for people and the variety of housing funds,” says Grace Macedon, Senior Management Analysis of Development Services, Renault.
Grandma’s so -called apartments are currently not allowed in almost the entire city.
The ordinance comes after they did a public survey last year and received feedback from the City Council.
“We tried to write these parameters in this regulation so that we hope that most people are excited about it,” Macedon said.
If adopted, as proposed at the moment, the ordinance will allow no more than one ADU in batches of at least 9,000 square feet in size.
“9,000 square feet is quite large, but that was the direction of our city council as a type of starting point where they want to be … it will still be expensive to build ADU, but we hope that (that is) another instrument In the tool box to help people, “Macedon said.
Those against Adus expressed concerns about parking and congestion, but city employees aim to limit these fears from the requirement for a parking space off the street of ADU.
The staff will hold several personal and virtual meetings to receive a public contribution next month.
Later this year … The ordinance will be directed to the Planning Commission for feedback, and then to the Renault Municipal Council for a possible vote.
