Baton Rouge, La. (First Louisiana) – those who want to be selected for the new city of St. George, made it official at the Batton Rouge court service on Wednesday, January 29th.
Many candidates qualified to run for position. See who is qualified.
“It’s exciting, it’s really. It continues what we do. If I am selected, I will continue to work hard for St. George, if not, then this is good, I guess life will continue, “said Patty Cook, a member of the council that is running for a position.
Cook said she worked hard to raise the city of St. George and run for thirteen years.
“That’s great, it’s the fun part. This is when we come to build St. George. My husband and I have been involved for a long time and we want to continue to build inertia, “she said.
Cook is part of a group of city leaders who qualified to be on the March 2 election newsletter.
This group includes key leaders from St. George: Temporary Mayor Dustin Yates, temporary police chief Todd Morris and four council members.
“It would be nice to keep the team together, we’ll see, we hope to be the best here,” said Council member Steve Monacello.
Monacello said he loved his community and was excited to return.
“It was great, it’s new to everyone. We started from the ground up and build as we walk. These are the worldly things you never thought of – animal control, bumping – we’ve never done anything like that, so we learn what to do while we go. We were able to introduce regulations and want to continue it, “he said.
Potential candidates have to qualify for the election until Friday.
