Tallahasee, Florida (WCTV) – Leon County Commission voted against a proposal on Tuesday aimed at redirecting nearly $ 1.2 million a year for affordable housing.
The vote during the meeting of the District Commission on Tuesday comes after the Ministry of Justice of the capital called on the district commissioners in November to take the money allocated for a project to improve the road and to direct it to apart homes at affordable prices.
According to the non -profit plan, the county will use $ 1.2 million a year to buy land with an entrepreneur. The county will then rent to the land of the entrepreneur under an agreement that the entrepreneur will set aside units for low -income residents.

However, the Commission voted 5-2 against the adoption of the CAJM proposal during the board meeting, with commissioners David O’Kife and Bill Prector being the only two who voted to support redistribution.
The bigger part of the district committee did not want to take money from the project to improve the road to finance the offer for homes at affordable prices.
Instead, the bigger part of the committee seemed interested in directly reducing the check after the traditional budget process instead of a redistribution from the roads.
