BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPRUD) — Louisiana’s first-ever cattle prom will be held in Ascension Parish next week.
The American Cancer Society’s iconic ball is a Western-themed gala founded 50 years ago in Dallas, Texas. The organization thrives in 23 different cities across America and in total will raise over $17 million this year for cancer research.
“The money raised for the event will help with some of our research projects, our advocacy, patient services in Louisiana. We provide transportation and lodging grants to our local health care systems that help our patients get to and from treatment,” said Katie Babin Decker, senior development manager for the American Cancer Society.
The Cattle Baron’s Ball is set for Thursday, October 17 at the Lamar Dixon Exposition Center in Gonzales. The evening will feature local barbecue and cocktails, line dancing, a performance by the Chase Tyler Band, a silent auction and more western-themed entertainment.
