Lubbock, Texas (October 23, 2024) — Lubbock Christian University and West Texas A&M finished tied 1-1 on Wednesday at the LCU Soccer & Track Complex. Despite the hard-fought game, neither team was able to break the deadlock, resulting in the Lady Chaps and Lady Buffs ending their annual “Rivalry on the Range” game without a winner.
The tie moved Lubbock Christian’s record to 6-5-3 overall and 4-3-2 in Lone Star play. The Chaparrals also remain a strong home team, now holding a 4-2-2 record in Lubbock this season. West Texas A&M won its first tie of the season, moving its overall record to 6-6-1 and 3-4-1 in conference play.
How it happened
West Texas A&M opened the scoring when Molly Ferro scored in the eighth minute. Ferro was able to break into Chaparral’s defensive territory where she sent a shot that could not be collected by the Lady Chap defense and rolled into the back of the net.
The Lady Chaps tied the game with a goal by Come on Spiller — her fifth goal of the season — in the 33rd minute, assisted by Emma Best. Foul and subsequent yellow card for Jordan Bearden Avery Jenningsled Lubbock Christian with a free kick deep in their offensive zone. Best sent the shot into the box where he found Spiller who quickly headed it in for the equaliser.
The goal ended the game as Lubbock Christian and West Texas A&M tied 1-1.

- In his second consecutive start, Megan Mirabal totaled two saves for the Lady Chaps out of a total of eight Lady Buff shots.
- Lubbock Christian had 11 shots on goal, tied for their third most of the season.

The Lobos are in their first season as members of the Lone Star Conference and will welcome Lubbock Christian to the Lobo football field for the first time in the history of both programs.
