Birmingham Airport is back to normal after flights were grounded due to a ‘suspicious vehicle’.
West Midlands Police were alerted and responded to a report of a “suspicious vehicle” at the airport.
As a “precautionary measure”, passengers and workers were evacuated and flights grounded.
The explosive ordnance disposal team checked the vehicle, which was ultimately deemed safe.
“Everyone’s safety was our primary concern and as a precaution the airport was partially evacuated so the vehicle could be searched and assessed,” police said.
The airport has resumed normal operations with minimal disruption.”
“We would like to thank the public for their patience and support.”
A spokesman for Birmingham Airport said departing flights were suspended for several hours.
After everything was cleared, flight operations resumed and slowly began to return to normal late Wednesday.
All flights should operate as normal this morning.
