Baton Rouge – Four people were arrested at the end of a hunting license fraud that had been held for more than two years and used documents to hand over regular people as disabled veterans.
John Ballard, Jr. and his sons Brian and Trevor were arrested on Monday for alleged falsifying public records to receive licenses for disabled veterans. Kara Meek, the service of the veterans employee who approved their applications, was also arrested.
According to arrest records, the internal investigation of the Wildlife Division and Fishing in Louisiana revealed that the balars had received licenses for hunting and fishing with disabilities.
Licenses have been approved for military members or members of the Louisiana National Guard and are free for life. None of the men was disabled, but Brian Ballard served in the National Guard of Louisiana.
Regular lifelong hunting licenses in Louisiana cost $ 500 for state residents. The applications were approved by Meek, an employee of the veterans who lives in the Bossier parish.
John Ballard, a 49-year-old from Denham Springs, applied and approved for a disabled veterans license in July 2022. Nearly a year later in June 2023, Brian Ballard and Trevor Ballar are applying for disabled veterans.
All three were approved by Meek, who told investigators LDWF that she “deliberately and deliberately falsify applications for the three licenses deceit, knowing that the persons were not disabled veterans,” the arrest documentation said.
The distribution of fraudulent licenses was discovered until December 26, 2024, when the verification of the compliance of the three male licenses revealed their fraudster.
When confronted with the LDWF’s law enforcement department, the biggest Ballard said the error must have come within the LDWF license system.
All the balers were booked at the parish prison in East Baton Rouge at a census, which everyone filed for fake public records. Meek was booked three to injure public records. The injury and submission of fake public records leads to a fine of $ 5,000 and five years in prison for each crime.
