Seattle – The second period of the Catabeline, which saw three goals, allowed in less than seven minutes, thwarted Seattle Kraken at 6-4 loss to Anaheim ducks on Tuesday night.
Philip Grubauer allowed five goals in 22 shots, ranked in his first start in eight games for Seattle, as his defense did not make him any services. Kraken is already 0-8 in matches played at night back this season.
“We twisted him to dry,” said Chief Coach Dan Bilsma for Grubauer.
Kraken’s porous defense efforts left a roughwheel without a chance for many goals allowed by Anaheim. However, Grubauer also allowed at least one goal that the NHL goalkeeper should stop.
Seattle is now 5-15-1 in games played by Gruubauer this season. His already horrible savings rate of .870, entering the game, dropped four more points to .866, with the five goals scored by Grubauer ducks on the net. This .866 Save the percentage is the oldest in the NHL among the qualified goalkeepers this season.
After another rough trip, can it be time for more drastic measures than Kraken? It is difficult to see that the team puts Grubauer on refusal. But at the same time, it is almost impossible for the team to win a game in every game that Gruubauer is in the door.
In contrast, Joey Dakord is 17-12-2 in 31 games with a team decision this year. The Daccord saving rate .917 is the fifth best in the NHL.
It was a game that Kraken had to win if there was hope to install a rally in the playoff competition. And with the four goals scored against the goalkeeper in Lukash Living, who was great for ducks this season, this is an effort that should be enough most nights.
“I think entry into the game, they were one point behind us. Now they are in front of us in the standings,” said Eli Tolvan, who scored a goal for the third straight game. “So I think we knew these next two games would be really important. It’s nasty. I felt somehow giving the game.
The ducks jumped into a quick lead after the first of many defensive mistakes in the game.
Troy Terry was left unmarked to the right to the net and defeated Grubauer from Ryan Strom’s pass to give the ducks a 1-0 lead only 1:23 in the game.
“Breaks. Breaks in the back of the net,” said defender Brandon Monttour. “They gave them chances and they took advantage. No matter who you play, it’s hard to continue the game when they score 5-6 goals.
Seattle answered five minutes later to tie the game at 1-1. Montourn won the washer back from Robbie Fabri on the boards and walked behind the net and put Tolvan driving for a blow, which won the Kraken’s initial goal.
Less than two minutes later, Kraken had a lead. Mitchell Stevens surpassed Jansen Harkins behind the net and climbed the front of the goalhand shot target, which slipped under the arm of the 2-1 lead. It was Stevens’ first goal with Kraken.
Joshua Mahura then tried to try to pinch in the offensive area as the ducks defeated him to cause a chance to rush 2 to 1. Kirter Gothier fired a shot that backed back to Grubauer for a subsequent chance that found the net to bring the level of Anaheim in 2-2.
Seattle found another goal in the period to take the lead in the break. Jaden Schwartz scored his leading team 17th goal of the season at a pass from Kaapo Cako on a break 2 to 1 for an advantage with 3-2 Kraken. Kakko now has 15 points in 19 games with Seattle since he traded from New York Rangers in December.
Then Grubauer came out with the best rescue of the night. After experiencing Mahura with a successful murder, duck pressure continued with Grussuer, which was ignited against a few chances on the net. Then Trevor Zegra had a basic look from the right circle, with Grubauer adjusting late to make a star glove to keep the lead.
“It was great to see him to save him in the first period of the criminal murder,” Bilasma said. “It was a huge sequence for us, a huge consistency for him. I made an exceptional saving for us and the one who had to click us in the game. But just too many washers he had no chance, they were really the result of how I judge his game.”
However, the second period was a total disaster for Seattle.
As with the star rescue of Grubauer, Kraken survived after a penalty, but immediately allowed a goal after. Mason Maktavish was left open for a one-time that Grubauer had no chance of stopping, as the ducks again tied the game 3-3. Then Dunn had a terrible giving right in front of Seattle’s net when his pass was selected by Maktavish. Strome then buried another one-time on a helpless Gruubauer for 4-3 Anaheim lead.
“Just simple things,” Montour said. “Awareness, letting the boys open. Obviously they had a few hours on the back door, it’s hard for them to see them. Just awareness. Clean some things. Every time we make a mistake it seems to be in the back of Our network or our goalkeepers must save great times.
The next goal of Grulyer had to stop. Jackson Lacomb clicked a wrist from exactly inside the blue line of Seattle’s offensive area, which Grubauer attacked with their efforts to save the glove as the ducks led with two goals.
Absolutely nothing comes easily for Grucker. It even saves relatively normal personnel seeing a grosswaler fighting to make clean saves. Grubauer struggles to control struggles, watching the washers sail to his glove, and the shots run through his pads and find a way to the net.
“We planned a game from which, if we gave washers or gave too many free opportunities, they would oppose their skills in front, but all their D men,” Bilasma said. “I don’t think the first was a convenient period for us. It was too many opportunities for them with their hurry and skills to return to us, and we had some answers for this with some of our goals, but it manifested itself more in the second Clear speed period with the washer.
He made a few great stops of Matty Benerer and Chance 2 of 1 of Brandon Montrout, and Grubuer made a strong stop against Bret Lazson in the chance of rushing at the beginning of the third period before Seattle received a goal.
Shane Wright scored Jared McCan’s shooting for a power game of six minutes in the period to reduce ducks’ lead to one. But this is all that Seattle could manage, as Frank Vatrano scored into an empty network to seal the victory with 1:16 left to play.
“I felt like everything they received today. I think we gave them a lot of them,” Tolvan said. “We had a lot of turnover, a washer game, you know, the mistakes of defensive, insulting. I think you can’t have it this time.”
