Reno Omokri, a former media aide to former President Goodluck Jonathan, has praised President Bola Tinubu for sacking the Minister of Women and Social Development, Uju Kennedy-Ohanenie.

Tinubu on Wednesday announced the sacking of six ministers in his first cabinet reshuffle since he was sworn in on May 29, 2023.

The dismissed ministers are Kennedy-Ohanenie, Lola Ade-John, Prof. Tahir Maman, Abdullahi Gwarzo, Jamila Ibrahim and Beta Edu.

Ade-John was the Minister of Tourism and Maman was the Minister of Education.

Others are Gwarzo, Minister of Housing and Urban Development, and Ibrahim, who was Minister of Youth Development.

Edu was earlier removed from her role as Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation over alleged misuse of funds. Now she has been replaced.

Mr Omokri said on social media that Kennedy-Ohanenie’s temperament made her unsuitable for the role.

“The sacking of Uju Kennedy-Ohanei, Nigeria’s minister of women affairs, is a commendable move by the president. This woman is better suited for the World Wrestling Federation than a government role,” he wrote.

“Constantly engaging in petty quarrels and disrupting events and occasions. And her meddling in cultures she does not understand, such as the consensual marriage of 100 orphaned girls in Niger State that did not involve underage girls, has been a major drag on the administration’s popularity in the North.

“I applaud the president for showing her the door. He needs a person whose temperament is calm, with a more contemplative attitude, so that he thinks long term and starts with the goal before speaking and acting.

“Furthermore, having Ambassador Bianca Ono come on board is a significant plus for the administration. This is a woman I know personally and I can vouch that she has the character and breeding to bring class and glamor to the Federal Executive Council.
