A firing affiliated with Police at Wilmington left a 32-year-old man hospitalized in stable condition.
City police said members of drugs, organized crime and the Deputy Prime Minister had conducted a drug investigation around 1:00 pm Tuesday in the area of 10th street and Kirkwood Street. Employees tried to stop the suspects who boarded the sidewalk.
Once an officer shot a suspect. Another police took care of the suspect before the paramedics arrived.
The Department of Criminal Investigations by Police in Wilmington, the Professional Standards Service and the Delaware Ministry of Justice are investigating the incident.
The officer was not injured. The criminal accusations associated with the shot man are in anticipation of a further investigation.
The second district councilor Shane Darby in a social media publication on Tuesday said “I am deeply disturbed by the unnecessary use of force shown in this incident.”
“The running individual does not pose an immediate threat and excessive measures such as these erodes between law enforcement and our community,” Darby said. “In these cases, we must require transparency and accountability, ensuring that employees give priority to deseclation and public safety. This cycle of violence is unacceptable and I will insist on reforms to prevent such tragedies and protect all citizens.”
