Las Vegas Motor Speedway President retired after three decades – Fox 5 Las Vegas

Las Vegas, Nev. (FOX5) – Las Vegas Motor Speedway President and General Manager Chris Powell says he retires after a long career.

Powell acquired Speedway in December 1998. According to a press release, he helped Speedway extend his offers, including the addition of a second weekend of the NASCAR Cup Weekend, the creation of a neon garage and the construction of the LVMS tape.

It also plays an important role in bringing a Margaritka electric carnival to Las Vegas.

“Our success over the years has not been for one person, but recently the incredible commitment made by my teammates over the years,” Powell said. “Their attention to the details made me so proud and I could spend years, thank each of them for their endless efforts. I’m sure my heir will receive the same kind of support. “

Powell’s retirement enters into force on March 31, two weeks after March 14-16 Pennzoil 400 Race Weekend. Looking forward, Powell sees more family time in his future.

He was recognized as his dedication to promote sports in South Nevada in 2013 when he was introduced into the South Nevada Sports Hall of Fame.
