A day after the fatal firing of last week of a US border patrol agent in North Vermont, federal authorities have reported a signal to firearms dealers seeking information about weapons purchases by a person who is described as a “person interested” in death to the agent.
The signal received from VTDigger identifies that person of interest as Michel Jacqueline Zaiko.
Zaiko had not previously been publicly identified by the federal authorities as potentially related to the fatal firing of border patrol agent David K. Maland on Interstate 91 in Coventry in the afternoon on January 20.
The day after the shooting, the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearm and Explosives sent a signal of federal firearms licenses, reading: “ATF asks your help to identify any Michel Jacquel Milled Weapons purchases A person interested in interest in the field of shooting an employee of Customs and Border Protection on January 20, 2025. ”
The signal asked the firearms dealers to check their records and contact ATF if they had “any information on transfers or transfers attempt” of Michel Jacqueline Zaiko firearms.
ATF employees in Vermont did not return telephone messages, looking for a comment on Tuesday.
The federal signal further complicates the already tangled case in which authorities and media reports have attracted links between several acts of violence in many countries.
