Will February Snow in Seattle? – Kuow News and Information

With a grim winter and weak La Nina, West Washington did not see snow in late 2024, and the flakes have not fallen so far in 2025. But this can change on the first day of February.

Will it snow in early February? The forecasts are unclear, but at this point it is safe to plan a mix of rain.

“We’ll pop up enough,” Steve Ready said with the National Meteorological Service to Kuow. “This is just a question whether we can arrange ourselves or not that these cold temperatures with moisture into the atmosphere to get some snowfall. So, we still can’t exclude it.”

It is known that the week leading to February 1 will continue to be cold but dry. The fog is likely to start developing at night in Western Washington. This means morning cold on the car’s front windows.

Cold weather is scheduled to keep. The area will be about two degrees more cold than what is typical during this time of year, Reidi said. This pattern of dry weather breaks down on Thursday, leading Friday. While Ready notes that forecast models cannot agree what to expect over the weekend, the National Meteorological Service is currently predicting rain/snow on Friday night and until Saturday.

“We will have a system that comes for Friday, which seems to be left warm enough for any rainfall we get … it falls like rain,” Raidi said. “When we enter Saturday and our temperatures cool down, but this system lingers a little around, continuing to redirect moisture in the area, there we wonder if we will see the potential for rain or snow or winter mix.

“At the moment, the models really can’t agree with it, and if we look at it probably, because here in Seattle we really look at only a 27% chance of snowfall to an inch.”
