Sustainability is not only about environmental responsibility – but also for innovations that reduce costs and reduce waste. The Washington program applies an internship (WASI), pairing students at college with businesses to help them achieve goals to prevent pollution. This program is of benefit to the environment and business and promotes the next generation of sustainable leaders.
Host trainee to prevent pollution in your business
Every business or organization in Washington has the right to participate in the Washington Applied Sustainability Program (WASI). Business applications February 19, 2025 is coming. WASI will hire and pay the trainees $ 8,500 for 10-week internships.
We are looking for five funding projects and encourage projects in these industries:
- Production and processing of food and drink
- Chemical production, processing and formulation
- Automobile production and maintenance
- Production and maintenance of aerospace products and parts
- The production and production of metals
- Support the prevention of pollution in the Indian country

How do WASI internships help business?
ASI internships concentrate on an identified project that supports your organization in their practical initiatives to prevent pollution or sustainability. Past successes include:
- Reducing the use of dangerous chemicals.
- Reducing dangerous waste and disposal costs.
- Identification of more favorable chemical alternatives.
- Preventing Washington Water Pollution.
- Reduction of air emissions.
- Preservation of water and energy.
- Reduction of solid waste.

WASI program
Washington companies can apply sustainability initiatives by providing internships to students studying engineering, chemistry, sustainability or environmental science.

Through partnership with Washington Sea Grant (WSG) and the Washington Ministry of Ecology, trainees work for household business and have access to Ecology’s technical advisers.
- Potential trainees can apply from March 17, 2025, after the projects have been selected by WASI.
- The internship training begins the week of June 16, 2025
- 2025 Scholarship: $ 8,500 (equivalent to a salary of $ 21.25/hour).
WASI trainees acquire a suitable work experience, and businesses take advantage of having an internship dedicated to projects to prevent pollution and durability. Together, we are strengthening Washington’s project workforce on one project.
