Richard Ankle Kingsley
OBITUARY
Richard Glezen Kingsley of Irvine, CA passed away at the age of 92 on October 14, 2024 with loving family members by his side and others with him in spirit. Richard, known as “Dick” to friends and family, was born in Southern California in 1932 to his loving parents, Glezen and Iola Kingsley, who along with his beloved brother, John, predeceased him. He graduated from John Muir High School and later USC, including a break during which he proudly served in the US Coast Guard. At USC, Dick joined the Acacia fraternity and became an avid lifelong Trojan fan. He also met his best friend and wife, Gail B. Kingsley, and so began a loving and enduring marriage of over 63 years. Dick’s career focus was in the pharmaceutical industry. Over the years, Dick enjoyed spending time with friends, playing tennis, hiking and fishing. His love of trout fishing in the High Sierras began in childhood. But Dick’s greatest love was his family. Dick enjoyed telling stories, building sandcastles on the beach, fishing, making root beer floats, playing the harmonica, singing the song “Cooties and the Bedbugs,” dining out with his family, and traveling to Dana Point. He also loved animals and especially the many family dogs over the years. Dick was dearly loved by his wife Gail (predeceased) and two children, Wendy (Bill) Norman of Irvine and Richard S. (Joan) Kingsley of Wilmington, Delaware. He was loved by his five grandchildren, Dustin (Jessica) Norman, Taylor (Alex) Murry, Kristen (Steven) Kiser, Charles (Caroline) Kingsley and Victoria (boyfriend Jeff Horn) Kingsley, along with his seven great-grandchildren Landon, Oliver, Cooper, Bennett, Griffin, Abigail and Jack. Both Dick and Gail had a way of making us all feel loved, special and important. He will be greatly missed, but along with Gail, his spirit will live forever in our hearts.
