Topeka, Kan. (WIBW) – The League of American Cyclists honored the efforts of Topeka to build better places for people to ride with a bronze bicycle wheel (BFC) on Tuesday, January 28th.
Topeka joins 459 communities across the country in the movement for more festive streets and better bicycle for all. The award recognizes Topeka for its commitment to creating transport and entertainment resources that are beneficial to the inhabitants of all ages and abilities, while promoting a more healthier and more sustainable choice of transport.
The American Bicyan Bicyclists Friendly American Bicycle League program sets the standard on how communities are building and reference to improving cycling better.
This round of awards includes 91 new and renewing awards, joining a total of 460 current bicycle communities in all 50 states and Colombia County.
The BFC Award at the Bronze level acknowledges Topeka’s commitment to improve conditions for all people who drive through bicycle programs, regular bicycle events that encourage and encourage people to choose cycling, pro-bike policies and bicycle infrastructure.
Nearly 900 communities have applied for recognition from the Bicycle Community Program, which provides a road card to improve cycling better for communities of all shapes and sizes.
The five levels of the BFC – Diamond, Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze Award, plus category – provide a clear stimulus for communities to continue to improve.
