Las Vegas, Nevada – A Las Vegas police sergeant accused of making several illegal arrests now faces additional charges related to child pornography.
Sergeant Kevin Menon was arrested on Wednesday on two counts of possessing visual representations depicting the sexual conduct of persons under the age of 16. These new charges stem from an ongoing investigation into the original allegations against him.
Menon was initially arrested in August on multiple charges of oppression under the guise of office. A grand jury indicted him earlier this month, alleging he fabricated incidents to detain or arrest individuals without probable cause.
Menon appeared in court Wednesday morning for an arraignment hearing after posting bail for his August arrest. News 3 has reached out to his attorney for comment.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department suspended Menon in May pending further investigation and subsequently placed him on unpaid leave in September.
Menon has been employed by the department since 2014 and is assigned to the tourist safety division of the convention center area command.
