BATON ROUGE — On Wednesday night, MOVEBR hosted the third stop of its road show to provide updates on several projects it is working on.
The two most notable projects are the Jones Creek Road extension and the Perkins Road project.
The extension of Jones Creek Road is set to create a four-lane road connecting Tiger Bend Road and Airline Highway crossing Jefferson Highway. Officials say they plan to put a roundabout at that location. Bike lanes will also be included.
The Perkins Road project will build an extension of Perkins from Siegen Lane to Pecue Lane.
“It’s important for them to get feedback and see what they like because that’s what people are actually paying for,” said EBR Transportation and Drainage Director Fred Raiford. “So I think it’s good to have the opportunity to get some improvements that people have asked for and see that as part of the road project and still do what we need to do from a transportation and accessibility perspective.” , Raiford said.
Both projects are scheduled to begin clearing and eradication operations in early 2025.
The road show ran from 5:30pm to 7:30pm at the Jones Creek Library. Another event will be held on October 29 at Goodwood Main Library.
