This year, the Lunar New Year marks the beginning of the year of the snake, which symbolizes wisdom, intuition and mystery.
During the 15-day holiday, starting on Wednesday, many people around the world will take the time to celebrate cultural traditions, visit family members and wish happiness next year.
The Lunar New Year, also known as the Chinese New Year, begins a new zodiac cycle based on the Chinese lunar calendar. Each year, the date is shifted within the Gregorian calendar. As is the tradition, many Asian families will hold festivities that include red decorations, complex dishes, complete cleaning of homes and more.
Here are three ways to celebrate the Lunar New Year in Baton Rouge. If we have missed one, let us know by sending an email to [email protected] and we will update the list.
