Communication breakdown: wrongly released prisoner, recovered – KNOE

Baton Rouge, La. (WAFB)-On Friday, Christopher Davis, a 31-year-old, accused of participating in a deadly shooting in 2022, had to be on his way to the parish prison in East Baton Rouge.

“This word did not reach the driver,” says EBR District Prosecutor Hillar Moore. “By any lack of communication.”

As far as we know, Davis has never arrived in prison.

“This particular prisoner was transported from where he was in East Carol, along with a group of prisoners who apparently served their time and were brought to a bus stop,” Moore said.

This bus stop is located right next to Florida Boulevard.

The court records show that Davis’s guarantee is set at $ 700,000. They tell us that he was never paid and he was mistaken.

The Sheriff’s Service in East Baton Rouge announced on Monday, January 27, that Davis had been restored.

Moore describes in detail that Davis is transferred due to at least one dispute with the guard in the parish of East Carol. In short, he describes in detail the danger of the situation.

“This is certainly a risk to security. This is a murder in the first place – and you have relatives and family members who are concerned. “

Moore says families have been notified. We tried to talk to Davis’s family, but they refused on the advice of their lawyer.

Moore added that from the conversations he had from the development of the situation – no one in Baton Rouge was even aware of Davis’s transfer.

“Talking to the warder and the Sheriffe cabinet, they had no official communication, saying that Hay was heading to this prisoner returned and he returned for these reasons and he should be at your facility at the time,” Moore said. “So, no one was aware that he was out until they were notified.”

Before returning it to custody, law enforcement agencies discussed the breakdown of communication that led to his release.

This is not the first time a prisoner housed in the parish of East Carol has been released wrong.

In 2022, the convicted killer Michael Leblan was also released after serving time for an unrelated pistol fee. He was later arrested again in New Orleans.
