Pour one: Lubbock’s prettiest cocktail bar is giving up – FMX 94.5

July 29, 2023 was a day filled with heartbreaking love.

My Beloved and I attended a beautiful West Texas backyard wedding in our best boots and watched our wonderful, hilarious friends marry each other with tears in our eyes.

That evening we gathered at Bodine’s Cocktail Lounge (1717 Crickets Ave) and took advantage of the spacious patio to catch the West Texas breeze.

Instagram “drank” first – I posted my cocktail with baby’s breath attached – a lovely little detail, perfect for a day of love. This is my cocktail from the other night pictured above.

Countless people from Lubbock have made similar memories at Bodine’s, from bachelorette parties to birthdays and anniversaries. This is a place to make memories.

And sadly, that will soon be just a memory – as Bodine’s Cocktail Parlor is closing.

Owner Matthew Leighton posted a heartfelt and eloquent message about the decision on Facebook.

Leighton pointed out that the reasons for the closure of Bodine’s were “many” and “instead of dwelling on each one individually, I choose instead to admire and accept them collectively.”

Leighton also stated that he has more projects and hospitality opportunities in the works and that he will keep his followers updated.

Bodine’s will be open for a few more weeks so we can all get a few more memories.

Saturday 02.11.24 is the last HOORAY! We’ve got a few nights of great live music and a few bittersweet ‘see you soon’ nights to go in the next two weeks, and I sincerely hope you’ll stop by and have one last glass or three to help us pay our taxes before we turn off the glow of the pink neon sign and withdraw the invitation #drinkingNICE for good.

Good luck in your next endeavors and cheers to the memory of the West Texas original, Bodine’s.

Lubbock bartenders reveal what your drink order says about you

I asked both former and current Lubbock area bartenders and door staff what they REALLY think of you – based on what you order at the bar. Remember: it’s all in good fun, remember to always tip your bartender who loves you, even if you order a Lemon Drop.
