Boise Bench Better Brace for Big Barbecue & Brews.
Big Daddy’s BBQ & Brew will open its second local location on Overland Rd. Near Orchard St. in the building of the former Andrade of 4903 W. Overland Rd. Andrade moved to a restaurant built on the street in 2020.
Chad Hoss Grig started Big Daddy’s in 2006 with a restaurant in Kuna. Later, they opened the Meridian Restaurant. During the Covid-19 pandemic, Boise’s place of FairView was forced to close. Grig died at the end of 2020. His wife, Haseta and daughter Kersten, continued to build a business.
Big Daddys has smoked meats, an array of sides, burgers, beers and desserts. The menu has options such as Brisket Burger, Bourbon BBQ Burger, Brisket Melt and Pork and Cheese, with pulled pork, poppy and cheese and grilled barbecue sauce.
Kersten, who now partners with Stephen Warren in business, said they had managed to hit the building.
“We were actively looking for six months for something that would allow us to expand our catering and be the center for it and to offer more food at Boise,” she said. “We are bidding on this and we are lucky to get it.”
The site is considered a new place on Starbucks in 2022, but the coffee chain cut the plans.
Grig said she was excited to get acquainted with the bench and bring the big dad’s supply to a new part of the valley.
“(Bench) is such a cultural mouse of what Boyz is,” she said. “New Boyz, Star Boyz … He has his little personality and I am excited to get to know this side of the city and to provide a different eating experience than what they have.”
She nodded to the history of the building, including Shakey’s one-time pizza home and later Andrade’s, and said they were excited to be in the building.
“We hope to cover this nostalgia a little and give people something to look forward to again. It seems that people are really excited to have something new. ”
The location will be open this summer, Grig said.
