The Harry Reid International Airport ranks 12th in terms of complaints about lost or improperly processed luggage among 60 US airports between 2015 and 2023, a new report said.
Upgraded Points, based in Austin, Texas, a tourist company that explores travel and credit card trends, said the airport serving Las Vegas had 1.38 complaints about the improperly processed luggage per 100,000 passengers during the eight -year period.
The company also listed last year’s 10 best airlines for complaints about improperly processed luggage and each of the top 10 flies to Las Vegas.
“Losing your luggage is a classic nightmare, turning a great journey into a disappointing test,” said Kerry Stoxbury, editor -in -chief at Upgraded Points. “We focused on airports and airlines with the highest percentage of luggage accidents to help inform future passengers while promoting improvements in luggage processing processes.”
Reid International representatives did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The survey analyzes data on real estate complaints from the electronic reading room of the Freedom of Information Act of Transport Security Administration for the 60 busiest airports in the United States between 2015 and 2023 to ensure fair comparisons between airports of different sizes , the data were normalized to the annual volume of passengers.
For airline estimates, the study reviewed the report on air travel users of the US Department of Transport by examining the number of improperly processed bags in 100 bags from January to September 2024 for the 10 largest US carriers. He then compared these figures to 2023 to calculate the percentage changes compared to the previous year. Improperly processed luggage, as defined, includes items that are lost, delayed, diverted or damaged.
The worst US airport for the wrong handling of luggage is Orlando International Airport with 1.81 complaints about 100,000 passengers. This is followed by John F. Kennedy International in New York (1.72 per 100,000), Palm Beach International in Florida (1.71), Ted Stevens Anchorage International in Anchorage, Alaska (1,69) and Fort Laudale Florida (1,68).
The first five airports with the least complaints of improper luggage are San Francisco International in California (0.31), Kansas City International in Missouri (0.42), O’Her International Airport (0.58), Charlotte Douglas International in North Carolina (0.59)) and Minneapolis-cv. Paul International in Minnesota (0.59).
The average for the country is 1.11 per 100,000 passengers.
The study, including the airlines, showed data on the number of incorrectly processed bags of 100 registered bags and statistics were collected between January and September 2024 and compared to a similar time frame in 2023.
The worst airline for improperly processed bags is American Airlines, 0.9 improperly processed bags on 100 uploaded bags.

The number from 0.57 to 100 is an improvement of 7.6 percent compared to 2023. American, Alaska and Allegiant had worse indicators than 2023, while the other seven carriers improved compared to the previous year.
