BIRMINGHAM, Alabama – A 22-year-old man has been arrested and charged in the shooting death of 35-year-old Diontraneth Brown, according to the Birmingham Police Department.
Damien McDaniel, of Fairfield, has been charged with first degree murder and is being held in the Jefferson County Jail without bond.
On September 19th at approximately 8:50 p.m., officers responded to a report of a person shot at 604 Bar and Lounge in the Smithfield neighborhood.
When police arrived on scene, they found Brown lying unresponsive in the living room, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue transported her to UAB Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
According to police, the preliminary investigation suggests the gunman fired into the lounge from outside in a targeted shooting.
