Police arrested a suspect after a woman was shot dead late on Sunday near Sunday near the center of Durham.
The 30-year-old Braham Pue of Durham was accused of killing the first degree at the death of 34-year-old Chatla Little, also by Durham, according to police.
He was kept without guarantee on Monday at Durham County Prison.
The shooting happened around 11:48 pm in block 900 on Fayetteville Street. ABC11, the News & Observer News Partner, said Little was shot in front of Jack’s in and out Mart, which is on the other side of the Phoenix Square shopping center and just south of Durham highway.
She was declared dead at the hospital, police said.
Police refused to say whether Pue and Little knew each other or she was killed in another crime.
As of October 12, a total of 182 people were shot this year in Durham, 25 of which are fatal, according to police statistics.
This is a decline of 32 fatal firing at the same time in each of the previous two years, statistics show.
