Qualcomm’s CFO, Akash Palkiwala, in an interview published on 9to5mac, all but confirmed that Apple’s upcoming iPhone 12 series will be delayed until the end of 2020. Mr. Palkiwala notes that the 5G chips are set to ship in the fall of this year. What does this mean for the four 5G iPhone models? They won’t be hitting stores in September like they do every year.

In its publicly shared Q3 earnings report, the chip maker detailed that due to the rescheduling of a certain 5G flagship smartphone release, chipset shipments will be affected in Q4 2020. Speculation suggests that this mystery 5G flagship will be Apple’s iPhone from iPhone from Apple since then from iPhone 12 from iPhone from Apple since It’s the only big launch in September – going with Apple’s typical release calendar.

After its patent battle last year—when Apple paid $4.5 billion in a settlement to The Chipmaker—the next generation of the iconic iPhone will feature Qualcomm-made 5G modems that support sub-6 GHz and MMWAVE 5G. 5G connectivity will be available across all four iPhone 12 editions.

Tech analyst John Prosser predicts that the iPhone 12 and new iPads won’t debut until October. A release slated for October or even November might be worrying for fans, but it’s not unexpected. Now the old generation iPhone X and iPhone XR didn’t make it to store shelves until the end of October.
