Connor Dodds, 23, of Ascot Street, Easington Colliery, pleaded guilty to the charge on October 21.
Dodds was found to have delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) in his blood at a concentration of 3.6 microgrammes per liter – above the legal limit – when he was driving in Hutton Grove, Haswell, on August 9.
The legal limit is 2 micrograms per litre.

He was disqualified from driving for 17 months and ordered to pay a fine of £277, costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £34.
The case was heard at Hartlepool Magistrates’ Court.
Dodds was also charged with driving a motor vehicle with a proportion of a specified controlled drug above the specified limit on the same date.
