The Virginia Beach Fire Service responded to a fire of apartments in the 4400 block of Leacons Lane.

Virginia Beach, Washington – five people and a dog were displaced after a fire early on Saturday morning, Virginia Beach (VBFD) reported.

The crews responded to a fire in an apartment in the 4400 block of Leacons Lane around 2:13. When firefighters arrived, they found heavy smoke and flames coming from the apartment.

Officials said the fire came out at 2:55 in the morning

A resident is treated for smoke inhalation and taken to a common hospital in Norfolk.

Five residents and dog were displaced. The Red Cross is connected to help them in the homes.

According to VBFD, the fire is caused by resident smoking in bed.
