Boston’s Lenox Hotel replaces Solas with new pub, City Bar with new bar – MassLive.com

New life is being breathed into a historic Boston hotel with the debut of two restaurants next month.

The Lenox Hotel, located in the Back Bay, will welcome Sweeney’s on Boylston and The Irving to Lenox in November.

Sweeney’s is an Irish pub with large TVs, daily specials and a full Irish breakfast served on weekends. Meanwhile, The Irving will offer craft cocktails, wines by the glass and food.

Both concepts are led by Executive Chef Daniel Kenny, who comes to Lenox with more than 20 years of culinary experience at other hotels, such as The Liberty Hotel, Boston Harbor Hotel and Four Seasons Resort in Costa Rica.

“We are thrilled to have Executive Chef Daniel Kenny at the helm as we reimagine our food and beverage offerings,” said Dan Donahue, president of Saunders Hotel Group, in a press release. “His creativity, commitment to quality and passion for fresh, local ingredients make him the perfect fit to lead us through this evolution. We are confident that these new concepts will bring innovative and memorable dining experiences to our guests and the local community.”

Sweeney’s on Boylston will take over the former Solas Irish Pub space, which will officially close at the end of October. Inspired by Chef Kenny’s trip to Ireland earlier this year, the restaurant will feature traditional Irish food with a modern twist.

Signature dishes will include Guinness beef stew, ploughman’s flatbread and beef and cabbage sandwich. The restaurant will be open daily from 11am to 2am.

The Irving will take over the former City Bar space, which is also closing at the end of the month. The new cocktail lounge will have an extensive selection of bourbon and whiskey and offer shared bites and pizzas.

Signature dishes will include chili seared Gloucester tuna, Pineland Farms ribeye grind burger and cold water clams. Irving will be open from 4:00pm to 2:00am Sunday through Friday and from 2:00pm to 2:00am on Saturday.

A third concept to replace City Table will also open at the hotel in early 2025.
