Brantley Gilbert pulled double duty during a concert earlier this month, stopping mid-show to help his wife deliver their third child on his tour bus.
It’s clearly been a great few weeks for Gilbert.
A radio show Big D & Bubba were the first to sit down with the “Over When We’re Sober” singer and ask him about the difficult details of the birth and the experience.
Gilbert was happy to share.
“When I got on the bus, I immediately washed my hands, knelt down next to her,” he recalled. “When I did, her water broke.”
“I looked at the midwife, she looked at me, you know, I just stared at her for a minute and she said, ‘Oh, we’re having a baby!'” he continues.
“I thought, ‘Oh my!’ She said, ‘Yeah, do you still want to catch it?'” I said, “Yeah,” and she said, “Well, you better get ready, here it is!”
“It was pretty cool, I was the first person to ever touch it,” says the proud father.
Gushing about his wife, Gilbert adds, “She’s an absolute warrior.”
After the 35-minute ordeal was over and his son was on the ground, Gilbert returned to the stage and finished his set. The fans understood.
He tells Big D & Bubba that they still had time to finish the show: “My tour manager came up and said, ‘Hey man, if we go for the next 15 minutes, we can be done.’
Brantley and Amber already have three children: Brylen, Barrett and baby Abram.
