The ABILENE-ACU Wildcats began their seven-game homestand Saturday morning with a 6-1 win over Lubbock Christian at the Eager Tennis Center, their second win of the spring season.
The Wildcats are 2-4 on the season and will be back in action Thursday, Jan. 30 when they host Ut-Rio Grande Valley on their home courts.
ACU won two of three doubles matches to take Doubles Point and a 1-0 match going into singles play. The Wildcats won at No. 1, 3, 4, 5 and 6 singles to take the match over the Chaparrals.
Daniel Morozov -Who played No. 1 singles and doubles for the Wildcats—won a singles match, 6-3, 6-4, over Kelly Giese after teaming with Benjamin McDonald Defeat Jordan Georgiev and Giese, 6-4, at No. 1 doubles. Alejandro Verdasco was the only other double hitter Saturday for the Wildcats, teaming with Ethan Scribner To win at No. 2 doubles and defeat Marco Sessia at No. 5 singles, 6-3, 6-0.
The game against LCU was the first of seven straight at home for the Wildcats, who will also play UTRGV (Jan. 30), Hardin-Simmons (Feb. 1), Tyler Junior College (Feb. 14), Trinity (Feb. 15), Lamar (Feb. 22) and UT-Arlington in the Western Athletic Conference opener of the season (Feb. 27).
