MORENO VALLEY — Two people were killed in a two-vehicle crash in Moreno Valley that seriously injured three other people, authorities said Saturday.
It happened around 11 a.m. Friday at the intersection of Ironwood Avenue and Heacock Street, just north of the 60 Freeway, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
Officers from the Moreno Valley station arrived at the scene and found the Infinity and Mercedes involved in the crash, officials said.
A passenger in the Mercedes was seriously injured and died on the spot. The drivers of both vehicles and a passenger from the Infinity were taken to hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
Authorities said the impact of the collision caused the Mercedes to hit two pedestrians standing on the sidewalk. One pedestrian was taken to hospital where he later died from his injuries, while the second pedestrian was not injured.
The deceased passenger has been identified as Anselmo Sanchez, 39, of Perris; and the pedestrian was identified as Luis Lopez, 31, Moreno Valley.
The cause of the collision was being clarified. Anyone with information about the crash was urged to contact Deputy Kevin Seguin of the Moreno Valley station at 951-486-6700.
