Lubbock, Texas (Jan. 25, 2025) – Lubbock Christian University put on a shooting clinic Saturday at the Rip Griffin Center, tying a program record with 18 3-pointers to defeat Cameron 77-52 in a Lone Star Conference showdown. Grace Fosterwho moved into fourth on LCU’s career scoring list, led the charge with a double-double, scoring a game-high 22 points and grabbing 10 rebounds while Macie Maddox and Kennedy Chapel added career nights beyond the arch. The Lady Chaps’ precision shooting, with seven players contributing from long range, extended their winning streak to eight games.
The Lady Chaps (18-3, 12-1) had three players reach double figures, led by Foster’s double-double performance. Maddox contributed 15 points and five assists, while Chappelle matched a career-high 13 points, adding seven rebounds and four assists. LCU was 18 of 32 for 56.3 percent from long range and the trio made 12 of 18 threes, with Foster hitting a team-best five threes (5 of 7), Maddox matching her career-high with four (4 -of-6), and Chappell set a career high with three.
Lubbock Christian forced 16 turnovers on Cameron, while forcing 10 themselves in Saturday’s game. The Lady Chaps turned those leads into 17 points at the other end of the floor for a 17-0 scoring advantage. Foster’s four steals led the way for Lubbock Christian (matching a career high).
The Aggies remain winless (0-13) in LSC play and fall to 2-15 overall. Out of their 15 losses, this is just their fifth loss by double digits (result). Cameron hadn’t allowed more than eight 3-pointers in a game before Saturday this season. Shamika Smith and Kennedy Cummings led Cameron with 11 points each.
How it happened
LCU opened the game going 7-of-10 from the field on its first five shot attempts. of three points. Four of their first five field goal attempts resulted in successful 3-pointers (two by Foster), which helped LCU jump out to a 12-7 advantage. LCU closed the period on a 9-2 run (included a 7-0 run) and entered the quarter with a 21-12 advantage. Lubbock Christian relied on its three-point shooting in the period, knocking down five shots to account for 15 of its 21 points. Foster had 11 points and five rebounds in the first ten minutes.
Lubbock Christian added to its lead by going on a 10-0 run starting 8:14 into the second period, highlighted by a 3-pointer by Foster, to extend its lead to 32-17. Foster led LCU with eight points in the quarter and had 19 points in the first half as LCU enjoyed a 36-25 halftime advantage.
The Lady Chaps put on a hitting clinic in the third quarter, highlighted by a 12-0 run that extended their lead to 49-29. They connected on five straight 3-pointers early in the game, but their accuracy peaked in the third, where they drained six straight shots from beyond the arc. Through its first 21 three-point attempts, LCU hit 14, boasting a 66.7 percent success rate. Chappell (3-for-3) and Maddox (2-for-2) combined for a perfect 5-for-5 performance from deep in the quarter, each scoring 9 points. Their efforts fueled a dominant 25-7 scoring advantage, giving LCU a commanding 61-32 lead heading into the fourth. Of their 25 points in the frame, 18 came from six 3-pointers.
LCU sat three of its starters in the final quarter and all five bench players who entered the quarter played at least six minutes. Their long-range shooting went cold as they were 1-of-7 from the outside, but with 1:02 remaining freshman Maddie Moyers banked in a three-point attempt to help LCU match the program’s single-game record. She led LCU in the period with six points. LCU led by as many as 31 in the contest (67-36 minutes into the final period).

» Grace Foster recorded an impressive double-double for the Lady Chaps with 22 points and 10 rebounds. She completed the task in just 24 minutes of floor time. The double-double performance was her seventh of the season and 24thth of her career at LCU. Her 22 points topped the 12th time this season she topped 20 points in a game this season.
» Grace Foster moved into fourth all-time in career hits for the Lady Chaps. On Saturday she overtook Emily Poole (Atkins) (1,725, 2010-14) and Tess Bruffy (1,728, 2014-18) to jump into fourth place. She is 38 points away from passing Jordan Hampton, who had 1,767 points from 2005-09. Nicole Hampton is LCU’s all-time scoring leader with 1,796 points (2011-16), and Foster is 67 points shy of the top spot in program history.
» The Lady Chaps made over half of their attempts from three-point range, knocking down 18-of-32 shots (56.3%).
