On the same day a Lubbock coffee shop was named the nation’s No. 1 coffee shop, the city also earned the honor of being a top 10 winter location by AirBnB on Wednesday.
AirBnB released its 2024 Winter Trends Report on Wednesday, Oct. 16, and found Lubbock to be one of the 10 most sought-after local travel destinations this winter.
“Lubbock is gaining attention as a winter destination, and it’s easy to see why with its rich music history and vibrant art scene,” said AirBnB’s Lisa Cohen. “The nearby wineries and scenic scenery provide plenty of opportunities for outdoor activities, making Lubbock an intriguing choice for travelers looking to experience a different side of Texas this winter.”
Since Lubbock is in the Top 10 for local winter vacations, there are several unique options for people to book. From an architectural marvel in Ransom Canyon to one for Swifties, here’s a quick breakdown of the options:
-
The Bruno Steel House in Ransom Canyon is one of the most recognizable options. AirBnB lists it as an opportunity to sleep in a sculpture.
-
The Getaway Era in South Lubbock is all about Taylor Swift.
-
Another iconic stop is The Smiley Bush House at 58th Street and Indiana Avenue. It is named after the smiling bush that is decorated for the holidays.
-
The Evermore Lubbock, just west of the Texas Tech campus, is a private home with a themed mural inside.
-
Yellow House 806 is a 1930s cottage in the South Overton Historic District.
The Hub City also earned the honor of having the #1 Best Independent Coffee Shop in the nation, with Monomyth Coffee earning the title in USA TODAY’s 2024 Readers’ Choice 10 Best Awards.
