on Netflix Time Cut is a throwback film in many ways. It’s a teen drama set in 2003, with cliques, school bullies and Avril Lavigne blasting CDs. It is also a slasher film with a masked villain aimed at teenagers, including Summer Field. And lastly, Time Cut is a time travel story that takes Lucy Field way back in 2003 – just before her sister’s murder.
About stars Antonia Gentry and Madison Bailey, who sign on Time Cut “it wasn’t a question.” Both were interested in multiple genres of Time Cutand were ready to jump from their respective Netflix original series to a feature film. Speaking to CBR, Bailey discussed the transition from Foreign banks to appear in Time Cut. She and Gentry also joked about playing sisters, even though they look nothing like each other, and how Summer and Lucy have better instincts than most horror movie characters.
CBR: What was it for? Time Cut what convinced you to get involved? Were you both fans of slasher horror movies and 2000s teen movies?
Madison Bailey:
yes I feel this is right up my alley of what I like to watch.
The time travel aspect of 2003 is my favorite.
It was so much fun. It wasn’t a question. I said to myself, “I have to do this.”
Antonia Gentry:
My mom and I always watched old slashers from the 80s or 90s.
It was on my bucket list to be in a horror movie, especially a slasher.
I just said to myself, “Well, I have to.” This is also my first film. I wanted to check some boxes and [Time Cut] checked some boxes.
You’re helming this film after starring in two of Netflix’s biggest shows. Madison, how would you compare shooting? Time Cut of what you experienced on the extremely popular Foreign banks?

Bailey:
I think we both shot this movie with a season of each. I had just finished filming season 2 [of Outer Banks]but it wasn’t out yet. It’s definitely different.
of course [filming a movie] is a different tone and it’s also our first film.
that’s it [my] for the first time I lead a film and [Antonia’s] made a film for the first time.
Antonia, you said you wanted to make a slasher film and you had to do classic slasher chases in Time Cut. What was your favorite chase scene in the movie?
Gentry:
There’s a scene where Summer is running through the barn and I’m knocking on the door.
There were a few times when I was moving too fast. I actually booked it.
And they were like, “No, no, no, no, no, you have to cut it for the camera.” And I said to myself: “Reduce? But I should be scared. I don’t understand.” They said, “No, you’re crossing the frame too fast. Please slow down.’ So I got really fired up, but it was really fun. I liked going around the barn and knocking things over.
At least that means your characters are getting in Time Cut they have good instincts. Most people in horror movies don’t know what to do and just stand there.

The 10 Most Annoying Horror Characters
The main characters of horror films are placed in stressful, deadly situations, but they can still annoy people who make stupid choices.
Bailey:
you’re right I didn’t even think about that. We said to each other, “We have to go.” [Laughs]
You play sisters who don’t know each other but nevertheless form an emotional bond. What was the point of shooting when you felt you could convincingly be another family duo in the horror genre?
Bailey:
Have we ever gotten to that point? [Laughs] Have we ever felt this way? As someone who is adopted, none of my siblings look like me. So it didn’t take long [to pull it off].
Gentry:
Yes, my brother and I are not alike. We have our mother’s eyes, but that’s about it.
Bailey:
I don’t know
As soon as I met you, I said to myself, “This is my sister.”
Gentry:
We really clicked.
We had that chemistry, so that made it easy for us.
It was super fun pretending to be each other’s sisters.
Time Cut premieres October 30, 2024 on Netflix.
