Coroner called after crews pulled driver from car found submerged in pond – WAFB

EAST BATON ROUGE PARISH, La. (WAFB) – The medical examiner was called after a driver was pulled from a vehicle found submerged in a lake in East Baton Rouge Parish.

Officials said the car was found submerged in about eight feet of water in the area of ​​Bluebonnet Boulevard and Harveston Way. The driver was extricated from the vehicle early on Sunday, October 20.

The driver has been identified as Alex Gonzalez-Hernandez, 40, according to the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said Gonzalez-Hernandez was traveling north on Bluebonnet Boulevard, turned right and crashed into a wooden fence. According to EBRSO, after Gonzalez-Hernandez’s vehicle went through the fence, it struck a tree, breaking the tree in two and then landed in the pond.

According to the EBRSO, the medical examiner will determine the cause of death.
