Topeka-a man from Topeka who blocked employees in the US Capitol building on January 6, 2021, prayed to a federal court to attend the oath of the newly elected President Donald Trump later this month and offered intrusive Christmas wishes S

William Pope, who is alone in the US District Court in Washington, asked a judge to allow him to travel to Washington on December 28 to attend Trump’s office on January 20. The request came after he successfully delayed his trial with the expectation to receive a presidential pardon after Trump took office.

In a separate Declaration of December 25, Pope also quoted poems and “Christmas Song” by Charles Dickens, marking the fourth Christmas in his case spent without permission.

“For four years, you have crushed the life of peaceful Americans,” Pope said in the December 25 documentation. “This is how you attacked our constitutional rights. May my shackle were your biggest mistake. You will be persecuted by those chains that you have torn for yourself.

William Pope inscribed this self -edited photo: "I am your ghost of the Christmas past, present and future."

At the end of the document, Pope attached an edited copy of his photo from his arrest in February 2021, with the deposited images of Santa’s hat, sunglasses, a necklace with a chain and a joint marijuana. The caption of the photo read, “I am your ghost of the Christmas past, present and future.”

A federal judge postponed the long -awaited Pope process in November, citing the desire to save resources for the parties to the case, court and all potential jurors or witnesses, according to a court record.

Pope demanded postponement after the 2024 election and argued that his jury “was the whole American society” and the voters prefer Trump. He also expressed concern that he would not receive a fair jury, as most DC residents voted for Vice President Kamala Harris.

Pope has traveled twice to Washington on the case related issues, according to the court record. Following the charge and arrest, he is not obliged to make a guarantee, but must comply with pre -trial monitoring conditions, including a restriction on possession of a firearm.

“Allowing William Pope to return to Washington, Columbia County, in particular in the Capitol building, can place him face to face with the employees he resisted four years ago and put him in the same circumstance at the same circumstance which he has already demonstrated disregard for the law, “US prosecutor Matthew Graves said in response to the Pope’s request to attend the opening.

Graves wrote on a Thursday request that the most convincing reason to refuse Pope’s request for travel was to prevent a potential danger to the community and police officers of Capitol.

In the second of Pope’s two applications on Thursday, he indicated a similar federal case involving a man from Missouri, Eric Lee Peterson, who pleaded guilty to his actions related to his actions in Capitol, and was allowed to attend the opening.

A judge did not file a decision on the Pope’s request to travel by Friday afternoon.
