Baton Rouge – Louisiana’s Ministry of Health announced on Friday that two people had died as a result of winter this week.
An 85-year-old man at Pointe Coupee Parish died, with hypothermia as a factor. LDH also said that a 60-year-old woman died in Orleans Parish. This death was attributed to a fire caused by a heater.
Both deaths were confirmed by parish forensic doctors as time -related, the Ministry of Health said. No additional information was circulated about the dead.
Temperatures fell to 4 degrees this week in New Roads, Pointe Coupee Parish’s buttocks. New Orleans temperatures also dropped, reaching 21 degrees.
Two weeks before the winter storm, a 65-year-old man at Rapides Parish died of hypothermia on January 9th.
