New Jersey (Kyw Newsradio) – Pizza shops, washing machine, salons and many other small companies rely on foot traffic to stay sailing. If the road or other infrastructure occurs outside the door, the flow of customers can dry quickly.
A new bill moving through Trenton would create a grant to interrupt small business to provide some financial relief to mom and pop stores in undervalued communities affected by these projects.
Assembly Heather Simmons says that the inspiration for this bill came from the fact that the work is being done at a 295 overpass at Carney’s Point Point, Salem County.
“And this directly affects 17 enterprises on both sides of the overpass. The closure was long, it took more than a year. ”
She says it is for businesses with less than 100 employees in disadvantaged communities throughout the country.
The bill has already been approved by the Commission. Simmons hopes he will soon be ready for full vote.
