County Bexar, Texas – A man from Laredo was arrested for alleged involvement in smuggling operations, including 52 migrants, according to the Sheriff’s office of Bexar County.
30-year-old Abelardo Erera was detained on Wednesday for an alleged role in three cases of smuggling of people dating from June 2024, MPs said in a social media publication.
The sheriff’s service has announced that it has received a search order and 13 arrest warrants that have brought many law enforcement authorities to 16 migrants to the Erera residence in Larero, BCSO said.
The migrants have been found in three vehicles parked on the Erera alley and in a nearby shed, MPs said.
A further investigation by Erera showed that it was associated with a case of smuggling 12 migrants last week earlier this month.
It was also found that Erera was associated with a previous surgery to smuggle people in June 2024, when 24 migrants were found in a hidden compartment mounted on a on -board trailer, Sheriff’s office said.
Erera has been filed with 10 charges for prolonged smuggling of people, two for continuous smuggling of people under 18 and participating in organized crime.
In addition, he faces an unknown sum of federal allegations of migrant smuggling
Erera remains in the arrest of the County Web before being extradited back to Bexar County, MPs said.
