The experience is in partnership with IMMOTION and will offer a dynamic, motion-based virtual reality experience featuring live action and animated educational/entertainment content led by wildlife experts, marine biologists and conservation organizations.

With more than 75 locations and more than two million unique annual users, the zoo said IMMOTION continues to expand its network of partnerships in the US, Europe and Asia to help leading zoos, aquariums and museums generate ancillary revenue through its award-winning immersion attractions.

“This Wild Explorer experience perfectly mirrors our inspiring mission and passion for protecting the natural world,” said Chris Pfefferkorn, president and CEO of the Birmingham Zoo. “These virtual reality experiences will take you from Birmingham to the Serengeti at the push of a button,” Pfefferkorn said. “Spectacular cinematography is synchronized with moving capsules to create incredible experiences for our guests that will leave a lasting impression,” he said. “As the virtual reality experience is in the African Trails section at Birmingham Zoo, we’re launching with The Great Migration. Additional movie options will be added regularly.”

Wild Explorer tickets are $7 for guests and $5 for members.

Each of the films is about seven minutes long and is available in several languages.

Tickets are sold at the zoo ticket office at the entrance and at the food stand next to the Predator building.
